The Sacto Storytellers 

For 20 years, the SactoStorytellers have been Northern California’s premier rocksteady band, and a Sacramento music legacy that continues to be a shining example of the city’s rebellious spirit. The Sacto Storytellers is made up of founding members of legendary bands such as Filibuster, The Steady Ups, Pressure Point, Frank Jordan, Kimberly and Deep Six, - to name a few.  Members of the Sacto Storytellers have played, currently play with, and toured with global acts such as No Doubt, The Skatalites, Sublime, Fishbone, Matisyahu, Mike Watt, Dub Trio, The Dirty Heads, Toots and the Maytals- Tommy Guerro and more. 

With a sound that is uniquely their own, the SactoStorytellers honor the roots of Jamaican rocksteady with true skankin' grit, never afraid to infuse elements of Studio One dub, Ernest Ranglin, Jackie Mittoo, Fela Kuti, Patsy Cline, The Ramones, and The Band of Gypsies to create a soulful dance hall atmosphere. The band has toured Japan, throughout California and are currently in pre production to start recording new material. 

At their core, the SactoStorytellers are a boisterous, seven headed skankin’ Hydra featuring Kenny Beasley on guitar and vocals, Lesley Bruce on lead vocals, Matt Rodriguez on drums, Reggie Drew on bass and on vocals, Marc Kallweit on guitar, Ground Chuck, and Antwan Handy on trumpet and vocals. These stage veterans will often incorporate special guests to accompany them during their highly charged, booty-shakin' concerts consisting of mostly original songs plus a few upbeat homages. 

A Sacto Storytellers show is a dance party, so be sure to bring your dancing shoes!
